Homeward on the Oregon Trail
review 1: This is the second of three books in the Homeward on the Oregon Trail series. We are primarily following the Dawson and Martin families as they leave their Kentucky homestead for a new home on the Oregon coast. The first book chronicled the families' plans for departure and the major part of the journey on the Oregon Trail. One quickly gets caught-up in life on the open prairie, 12-mile days by wagon or on foot, evening dinners and time spent around the campfires, and relationships that form. This book is more of the same, although the journey becomes more difficult the more westward the train travels. The book feels fairly true-to-life as it must have been in the 1800s, and one can't help but wonder how those early pioneers did it, and did it successfully. This book... more concludes with the Dawsons and Martins reaching their dream, but the stage is set for the third book and difficulties that I see looming. I am enjoying the series, especially as I live in the west, and have traveled over some of those very trails in other years. The scenery is as beautiful as the author describes, and it is not surprising that word got out in those early years about "Paradise," as the travelers come to describe their new homeland.
review 2: LOVE'S JOURNEY HOME by Kelly Irvin is a wonderful inspirational Amish Romance set in Bliss Creek. #3 in the "Bliss Creek Amish" series, but can be read as a stand alone. This is the third and final volume in this series. Follow, widow, Helen Crouch, widower, Gabriel Gless, and their young family on a journey home to find acceptance, healing, faith, second chances and love. Helen and Gabriel have lost much, each has lost their spouse, and must raise their young children alone. In the meantime, this little community of Bliss Creek is dealing with their own crisis, due to the drought, many families are having to leave for a new settlement. Saying goodbye is very hard. Some are struggling with their faith, while others struggle with new found love and maybe second chances. A heart warming story of love and faith and how God's plan will lead to many blessings if one just follows his direction and not their own. A wonderful read full of faith, and love. I enjoyed this story and would recommend to any reader who enjoys Amish, romance, and inspirational reads. Which, this is not a "preachy" story. Received for an honest review from the publisher and Wynn-Wynn Media,LLC.RATING:4HEAT RATING: SWEETREVIEWED BY: AprilR, My Book Addiction Reviews less
