review 1: One of the things I loved about this book was the diversity of perspectives from the 20 authors who gave their opinions on why we write. We don't all write for the same reasons, but understanding the reasons why some others write can provide us insight into ourselves and our culture. The book is also inspirational and filled with advice and encouragement for authors. Highly recommended for authors and those who aspire to write.
review 2: This made me feel terrible about not liking certain books and stories, because all the writers apparently put in a whole lot of blood and sweat into their writings. However, this book is great for all aspiring writers in the form of encouragements or advice and also boosts one's morale because of the seemingly ordinary backgrou... morends the acclaimed authors come from. One very hard truth many future novelists will learn is that writing will not make you rich, no matter how many books you sell. Having this on the shelf for easy reference will definitely help beginning writers pull through the slump and find renewed hope and passion for what they love to do. less
