review 1: Steven Garvey and Mark Huffman have been friends since nursery school. Mark is a hot as sin fire fighter and Steven is a desk jockey. Steven wants Mark but doesn’t dare to take the relationship further. He knows Mark is known for one night stands and he would not want his friendship to end like that with Mark. When Mark comes onto Steven he tries to resist, will this cost them years of friendship or can it be come more?Ballsy by Mia Watts is a great read about two friends who are learning what love really is all about. Mark is an edgy Alpha and completely in control most of the time. Steven feels like a plane Jane next to him. He has thick glasses and is very smart. He doesn’t see the loving sweet man Mark sees when he looks at him. I really enjoyed these two. They... more really are two halves of a perfect whole when they are together.
review 2: I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed this story. It's another of those rare gems I've found in my "ooh, that sounds fun" impulse buying--most of which turn out to not be very good.It may have to do with how much I adore the friends-to-lovers trope, which was what I was looking forward to most. I got a little disappointed when within the first few pages the friends are already kissing. I felt a little robbed of the delicious falling-for-the-best-friend angst that I'd been promised.The way things turned around, however, delighted me. I loved getting to watch the balance of power shift back and forth as the two both revealed and hid and shared and discovered things about themselves and each other.This will likely make my guilty pleasures shelf, I enjoyed it so much. less
