review 1: A quietly beautiful novel. If you want action or plot twists, this book is not for you. But if you want a patient examination of characters fumbling through life as best they can at a certain moment in time, this is a great one for that. This book has many similarities to A Home at the End of the World, but is better crafted and seemed more believable to me-- partly because I'm more familiar with the 2000s than the 1980s but also because there are 2 main characters instead of 4, which is easier on the imagination and makes for a smoother reading experience.
review 2: The story was well-written, and the pieces tied together. What I struggle to understand is what was the point, why did Cunningham write it, and why should I care. Barrett sees a flash of light one
... morenight in Central Park and feels...touched....somehow. But he does nothing about it. He lives with his brother Tyler, and his dying-of-cancer fiance, works in a retail store run with Beth's best friend Liz. Tyler does cocaine but hides it from everyone. I'm pretty sure I was not the target audience for this book. less

"Królowa śniegu" to jedna z najlepszych powieści, jakie przeczytałem w tym roku. Polecam bardzo.

I sort of liked this one, liked the characters, but wasn't wowed. Perhaps it was over my head.

Nothing happens but the writing was gorgeous.
