review 1: It took the library so long to get this to me that by the time I got it I was thinking to myself do I even care anymore. And then I started reading it and remembered how funny and delightful these books are. So there I was enjoying myself greatly until I got to what is possibly the single most anticlimactic ending I've ever read. What was that? I won't go into it further here just in case someone hasn't read it yet, but seriously? Michael you're so much better than that, and this series deserved so much better than that. I'm honestly pretty disappointed in it really but it still gets 3 stars for being written really well up to that point. Go Fighting Pupfish!
review 2: I basically finished this book in a day. It was great. The plot was fast paced and there were... moren't any stopping points! As with the rest of the series, the humor really shone through and I found myself laughing out loud for a large portion of it. Especially the footnotes. They were probably the highlight of the entire series (Go Fighting Pupfish!).I love the characters. In particular, Mack and Golum whose imperfections make both of them insanely lovable. It was amazing how Michael Grant somehow made such a silly book somehow profound, meaningful, and exciting all at the same time. He must truly be an amazing author. This was such a nice and... refreshing... story. The ending was amazing. I felt that the conclusion to this series was so nicely well rounded and satisfying. That is a feeling that is always great to have and disappointed to lack. All in all, this is an amazing book in an amazing series. less
