review 1: Usually I review picture books from my kids' perspectives, because of course they are the target audience. But I read a TON of picture books, at least 30 of them every single week, and sometimes my tastes and the kids' tastes clash a bit.I assume this is why so many picture books get published that are written more for adults than for kids. Kids don't really get irony or sarcasm, at least not until they are growing out of the picture book stage. So I'm not sure if my kids really "get" this book. They like it well enough to not protest when I read it, but it's not one they have asked for. I don't care, though. I love it. This one is for me. The kids don't get to choose everything.

... more York: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. This is a fun picture book which first asks the reader about the fun of having a pig parade and all the things pigs would do in the parade. Then it explains why it would not be a good idea. The illustrations in the first part show pigs in carton style doing human things, like having a parade. Then the illustrations show what real pigs would look like trying to have a parade and why it wouldn't work. Pigs snuffle. Pigs hate to march. Pids would ear left over food instead of walking. Trying to keep band uniforms on pigs would not work either. A pig parade is a terrible idea. This book made me laugh and smile because I raised pigs and know how they are. However, a person doesn't have to have raised them to love the illustrations and get the idea of the book. It would be a great one to use as a mentor book for a writint assignment. I love it! less
