review 1: Another winner for Michaela Thompson, in her Georgia Lee Maxwell series. Georgia Lee as we found out from book one moved to Paris after an upheaval in her life in the US. We find Georgia Lee retained as the ghost writer for another American, Vivian Howard, a wealthy widow whose husband was murdered. Of course she was suspected but nothing was ever proved. Georgia Lee becomes involved with the cast of characters including Vivian's handsome lover, her son and her daughter, Alex and Blanche. Rounding out with her husband's housekeeper Pedro. Again Michaela astounds us with her ease in the descriptions of her cast of players making us feel at home with them. The vividness in the location as she surrounds us with the flowers and old buildings. The quaintness of the beau... moretiful towns and surrounding landscaping brings you to the beauty of Provence. All this making you friends with the characters and joining them in France. Georgia Lee soon becomes embroiled in the mystery surrounding the death of Vivian's husband to the point of her life becoming endangered. I certainly did my reading in one sit down as it just kept getting more and more intense! WOW, I did not see that coming! Michaela is adept in keeping the suspense high and it will be hard to figure out who done it...in fact it will be a shocker!
review 2: A Temporary Ghost by Mickey Friedman is a Georgia Lee Maxwell Mystery published in 1990. This is as short mystery novel about a writer that agrees to become a ghostwriter for a woman accused of killing her husband. No charges were ever brought against her or her lover. But, the public still believes she is guilty.Georgia meets Vivien and is told right off that if she didn't desperately need the money she would not be doing this book. At every turn she avoids working on the book. This gives Georgia plenty of time to get to know Vivien's lover, Ross and Vivien's two adult children. Another murder makes Georgia realize she has to find out the truth before another tragedy occurs. This is a pretty predictable mystery. I guessed right away who the murderer was, but it still wasn't a bad little mystery to escape into on your lunch break. Overall a C. less

Very brisk read, with a sleuth who is at least somewhat self-aware. Enjoyed.
