review 1: Last of the Montmaray series and I think I liked this book best of all. I had a few quibbles with the way some things worked out or happened, but for the most part I really liked it. It is an excellent look into war time rationing and blackouts, and other details that I never knew about that was incredibly interesting. I still loved the characters and particularly liked reading about Toby in this book. Great book.
review 2: The Montmaray Journal series is one of the best historical fiction series I've read in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the years leading up to World War II, and the war experience in England through the eyes of Sophie, a princess of the fictional Kingdom of Montmaray. While the events are from the past, the book has a w... moreay of instilling modern day sensibilities in its characters without seeming forced. Definitely a satisfying series to read, and a nice historical fiction selection for teens. less
