review 1: I'm in my early 30s with 8 children and would love to have more if the Lord so blesses us. I haven't seen the TV shows, but I've read some about them online and read the first book. Our family has many things in common with theirs. However, I didn't think this book was more than okay.A huge chunk of the book (60+ pages) was focused on recounting all of the events associated with Josie's premature birth, NICU experience, etc. I wasn't expecting that, and I really wasn't interested in that much excruciating detail about the experience. It really didn't seem to fit with the title or subtitle. It more seemed like something they wanted to talk about and so they did.And that's how a lot of the book comes across. There are random things thrown in there like packing tips in... more the homeschooling chapter. Or sharing about the fact that they abstain from marital relations for 40 days after the birth of a boy and 80 days after the birth of a girl (per the OT), and there really was no reason whatsoever to share that detail. There was definitely some material repeated from the first book. It's been several years since I read it, so I'm not sure how much. But I recognized references to living a year without A/C to avoid debt, information about their oldest starting his own used car lot, the info about why they stopped using birth control, etc.And once again there were recipes scattered randomly throughout the book. I'm really not sure why they were included, but it would have been nice if they'd at least been gathered together in one section in the back. So, I love most of what I've heard of the Duggar family, but I wouldn't particularly recommend this book. I thought the first one was better and that this book didn't cover enough new ground.
review 2: After watching 19 kids and counting, I have come to really admire the Duggar family. I appreciate their parenting style and how it has shaped their children to become well rounded contributing citizens. I love how this book shared their story, their insights, and the resources they use. I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially Christian mothers. I look forward to reading other books about the Duggars and applying their insights to my family. less

once again- this fed my duggar obsession, and left me impressed as opposed to critical.
