review 1: Washing a prehistoric creature is NEVER easy. There are a ton of steps to getting your mammoth cleaned and dried. Michelle Robinson and Kate Hindley have created a very cute book very much in the vein of Laura Numeroff's "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie." I particularly loved the different figures that accompanied the text: Fig. 1 an empty bathtub, Fig. 2 a full bathtub. The illustration details are neat and will add to any re-read - you'll notice the rubber sailor duckie bath toy. Just a nice book overall.
review 2: I really liked the illustrations in this book and I liked the story until mid-way when it just became too much. I didn't really get all the hairstyles (although it was cute, the thought of reading (and possibly explaining) all of them to small ch
... moreildren turned me off.) And then the mammoth runs up a tree and I thought uh-oh, how are we going to get him back in the bathtub? And I realized I didn't want to go through that again. Thankfully, we don't really have to, but it was at this point that there was an echo of "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie," just not as well done. less
