review 1: This is a sweet short story with a time travel component taking us back to 1173. Mary is an engineer from the present who has been unlucky with love. On a trip to Ireland she steps into a fairy ring and makes a wish.We meet Kevan, one of the little people, who is not the jolly leprechaun we celebrate on St Patrick's Day but rather a mischievous sprite who delights in the dilemma Mary finds herself in. Find true love before Dawn on the third day or she will die. Very Little Mermaid but Cian, our disillusioned hero is far more attractive to my mind.I enjoyed this short story and despite the sudden death ending (yes I'm being funny)I found it satisfying for what it was.
review 2: Mary Samson prefers an orderly lifestyle, never doing any rash or spur of the moment.
... moreAfter a year of dating Garret, he dumps her the Thursday before she leaves for a two week vacation to visit Ireland. While Mary is on a bus tour, she meets Harriet who asks her to make a wish while they drink to stolen mini bar drinks...Mary seems to think it's silly... When the tour group decides to stop & tour an area by the sea.Mary steps into a ring of mushrooms, as silly as it may, she made her wish;"I wish someone would love the woman I am. Not the woman he wants me to be...."Do wishes really come true??? Steeped in Irish folklore, it was interesting short story. less
