Dust Lands Trilogy
review 1: Entertaining rescue-mission adventure in a Mad Max-like world (but without cars) featuring a plain-thinking yet complex main character. Saba is a tough person who feels deeply but doesn't show it much, protecting herself with a gruff exterior. Her loyalties and prejudices make sense and develop logically as events unfold. The writing style is unusual, speaking entirely in Saba's moderately hillbilly-ish speech patterns and not using quotation marks when people speak (example: No, he says, we're headin' east.), but it didn't take long to get used to and actually worked well to add to the atmosphere. I definitely wasn't bored reading this and even stayed up late a few times; it went by pretty fast. Not a cliffhanger ending--the main issues were all dealt with by the finish--... morethough the conclusion did leave clear room for the start of Book 2. I'm pretty likely to continue with this trilogy, myself.
review 2: This book was really a different read for me, the way that the author wrote it was new and a little concerning for me at first. I thought that I wasn't going to like on the first page. The style was so different from other books that I read, that I didn't think I would like it. But it won me over, and I grew to really like the style. It was a very interesting and gripping novel, and definitely worth the read. I loved it, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I only wish that I could have finished it sooner. The ending was perfect, and I liked how each character developed as the story went on. One of my favorite things is character development and I will love a book if they author nails that. This book definitely did that, as well as have an action packed adventure. I highly reccomend this, it may surprise you and be worth the time. less
