review 1: While this is the first Monica Fairview book that extends the Pride and Prejudice story, I actually read this one after reading her second installment. I thoroughly enjoyed that one and this one was equally good. Fairview focuses on the minor P&P character Caroline and throws into the mix Darcy's cousin Robert Darcy. While I knew from the beginning that Caroline and Robert get together, Fairview weaves a story that is interesting from the first line to the last. I liked how she fleshed out her Austen characters as well as her new creations. I highly recommend this book and the one that follows "The Darcy Cousins".
review 2: Hm... I wish I could say that I loved this P&P sequel but I did not. Although I liked the idea to make Caroline Bingley the heroine an... mored thus turn her into a likeable character (yes, really!), the plot just wasn't enough to keep me focused and interested in the romance between her and Mr. Darcy's American cousin (I think they also lacked chemistry until a rather late stage). Pity.On top of that, Fairview's take on some of the other well-known characters didn't feel "right" to me several times throughout the book. less
