review 1: I've had mixed feelings about the book, the first of this author. What really struck me was the truth in what may happen to the thousands of missing - intriguing suggestion written here & not unbelievable. I'm not surprised that so many people go missing in the world, but on one very small island in the developed world? Is that really true? The facts presented in the beginning really 'facts'? This will stay with me for a long time and lead me to read her other books. On the audio - I did get a bit annoyed with the 'chatter' which I'd have skimmed if in print.

... moreignness helped me come to terms with the strange behavior and ideas of the three main characters- who are all a little unbelievable and a lot tragic. If you can suspend the disbelief, its an enjoyable well written book, but I would imagine many people would find it too incredible to enjoy. less
