review 1: I liked this book okay. I really liked Max and I felt so bad about what happened to him. I mostly had a ton of concern while reading this story. Lara scared me!This is a story about a young man who wants to follow his heart and follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, but his pushy father wants him to follow in his footsteps and become a lawyer. Well, Max did not want to be anything like his sleazy dad. So he quit law school and decided to resurrect his grandfather's guitar business. His girlfriend of 9 years does something so terrible that my heart ached for Max. When he goes to a bar that his friend works in to talk to him about what's been happening in his life, he spots that weird girl who is dressed in baggy cloths and wearing horrible 70's glasses. He can see... more underneath all of that she is beautiful. Well, this girl has had an unhealthy love for Max since high school but he doesn't know this.Anyway, they end up seeing each other and Lara with her CRAZY self does everything that she can to make Max hers, and she succeeds. Lara is not the typical heroine in my opinion. We are suppose to like her even though she is mentally unstable and needs some help.The refreshing thing about this book is that Max was not some uber rich man who could buy anything his or anyone else's heart desired. He was BROKE, and actually had to work for his money. Most of today's books have that super rich guy as the lead which is so unrealistic.I wasn't convinced that Max actually loved Lara in the end. I am not sure that this relationship will work out. I hope it does because if it does not, Lara is going to do something very bad to Max or herself.
review 2: What to say about Max and Lara?They were perfect together!Lara as such a fun character to read. Always so blunt and forward about everything and everyone, such a sweet girl, waiting for the love of her life to love her back.Max... i felt bad for him. In love with his high school girlfriend. How could she do that to him? I really disliked her and her pov´s made me confused and furious. What she did to him was just sooo wrong! She was a total bitch with a cold heart!Derek and Hadley were such a fun read, it would be interesting to really share a house with them. What i loved most about this book, was the way Max saw Lara. He said that she wasn´t his type of girl, didn´t have the curved body, blue eyes or blond hair, but there was something about her that everytime he was with her it she would make him smile. That was so lovely!I wanted to kill Max while i was reading the last chapters, but he learn his lesson(the hard way) and thank god everything worked out in the end.
