review 1: ~*~My Thoughts~*~A 5 Star Rating I could not put this freaking book down. I may or may not have slacked off completely at work, ignored my kids and husband, basically anything that wasn't this book didn't get my attention today. That being said for me this book rocked! Nashoda can write an amazing story so well it's awesome to say the least. She keeps you on your toes from beginning to end and honestly you can't help but laugh, cry, and just squeal through this book. Logan and Emily are an absolutely amazing couple and will definitely stick with me forever. Now I am dying to read Ream and Kat's story!!
review 2: Expect spoilers....I'm having a really hard time rating this one. On one hand, I LOVE the story line. All of it, from beginning to end, was the makings
... more for an awesome story, and pretty damn original too. what didn't work for me was the execution of the story.I gave the novella a hesitant 3 stars and in retrospect, I shouldn't have. I REALLY didn't like it. For this particular story I would have liked to see and feel Emily and "Sculpt" fall in love in the novella. That would have really set the foundation for book two as well as made the betrayal all the more painful. Instead I found the novella silly (I'm being nice.) It was more about Emily's rampant hormones than love. I really didn't FEEL anything. Later there are references to the time they spent together talking and falling in love, but you never really see that. "Sculpt" just kind of grunts and Emily throbs. My disappointment in the novella definitely bled into the novel.Torn from You was full of things that made no sense to me, problems and misunderstandings that could have been avoided, and unrealistic scenarios. On top of the that, the writing simply felt immature? unpolished? I'm not exactly sure what it was, but it just didn't quite develop right. Where I think this had a 5 star story, it read like a poorly executed first book. Maybe it was, that would make all the difference in the world for my opinion. The band story line was unnecessary. I get the feeling that it was thrown into the mix because fan girls love guys in a band (I'm rolling my eyes.) Not only was it unnecessary, but it added some messiness and things that just felt fake to me. Dating a band member has it's own problems that need addressed. Do bands just go on tour without a label or anything? Didn't they not play for 2 years? How are they going on tour? Wouldn't the other members have moved on after Sculpt disappeared? Don't they have jobs? Homes? And WHY in the hell would he go on a voluntary tour days after coming back for her? Things like this just don't add up in my head. That element completely missed it's mark with me.All things aside, I still really loved the story. I just feel like it was unrealized potential. Where it should have been serious and intense, a story that sticks to your soul, it fell way flat for me with undeveloped characters amd at times silly dialogue. Again, if this was a first book attempt, I still applaud her.I was left dying to know about Kat and "Ream" (I hate these names btw.) I bought it immediately and have already dug in. I'm hoping that the writing will develop more as the books continue. Fingers crossed.So......5 stars for the story, 2 for execution, 3.5 for hotness? less
