review 1: I thought this book was interesting, but lacked character development. Larry was very one dimensional and, other than being bully, I didn't really know anything about him. Even though I liked Itchy, Boney, and Squeak, their nicknames didn't reflect their personalities so I kept getting confused. And I didn't really understand why Rufus/Charlie's was able to eat real food. Isn't he supposed to be a ghost? That being said, I did like the quirkiness of this book. If the characters had been more developed, I would've given it 4/5 stars.
review 2: If I was a kid, I'd probably rate it 4. But I'm rating it a 3 because it's kinda retro in a not very appealing way in that it's a Boy's Story full of boys (I think there are maybe a handful of barely-used non-male characte
... morers in this story - a girl in class, mostly unmentioned, an aunt who is terrified of spiders and is a terrible cook, a mother who is constantly redecorating, and another mother who ran off on her family, mentioned a few times) and that's kind of... euhh. That being said, I enjoyed the story! The boys are silly enough to be likable and not SO ridiculous that they go overboard into tediousness. Also it is really short. less
