review 1: I liked it for what it was a satire on the ultra male overly mysogynist male. Honestly though, If I can't find a character I like at least a bit, I have a difficult time of it.Glad I read it.. I think Palahniuk fans may enjoy it(I am a bit Palahniuk fan myself), but I found that I stumbled while reading it. I think that in another time and state of mind I may have enjoyed it more than I did.
review 2: This was the most boring story I ever went through! The only reason I finished it, was because I listened to it as an audio book and Nick Cave has not only musically an amazing voice but also as a reader. Further the soundtrack and sound effecs kept me listening. As for the story: What the fuck was that? How can this story possibly possibly have high ratings? I... more could see that the story might possibly work as a movie that leans heavily on visual and sound effects but as a book? As a big fan of Nick Cave, his lyrics and fondness for darkness I absolutely do not get it. If I would not have known it was written by Nick Cave I would have said some immature insecure B-movie actor would have written it, to prove he can not only act, and by acting I mean walking around and looking hard, but also write crappy stuff, solely relying on shock effect, desperately trying to prove he is a bad boy. I d picture an obnoxious talentless characterless narcissist grinning into a camera."Ladys, this must come as some sort of revelation for you. I am sorry to break your hearts but this is how men really are. Nothing is sacred, its all about pussys, asses and ramshackling."But not even that worked, because I am not shocked!just bored! You bore me inner obnoxious guy of Nick Cave!Still, I d say its kind of a skill/achievement/gift to made me waste hours of my life listening to shit I have zero interest in, just because of a mesmerizing voice, artsy sound effects and a killer soundtrack. less
