review 1: I wanted more from this book. I felt like the characters represented stereotypes and maybe that was intentional... so we could all identify with one of the boys and recognize people we know in some of the other characters. I don't think any of the characters really ever developed and I never formed an attachment to any of them which is out of character for me. I guess I found it almost too predictable and yet too unbelievable when it was trying too hard to be believable. I enjoyed it in a weird, detached sort of way and I thought the ending was very well done but I can't lie when I say it was a disappointment. I will chalk this up more to the sensationalist reviews setting me up for something groundbreaking and terrifying rather than criticizing Nick Cutter's ability as a ... morewriter. review 2: I'd like to thank the group Horror Aficionados for recommending The Troop for the month of October. This book gave me the heebie jeebies. I'd say it's Cabin Fever meets Lord of the Flies type of scenario without giving too much away. I couldn't put it down as if to see how much more sickening it could get. Not for everyone, all too scary and couldn't help but think of Ebola scare going on right now. less
