Big Lake
review 1: In the northeast area of Arizona where the high desert is full of ponderosa pines and lakes, there is one called Big Lake. The quiet little mountain town where everyone knows everyone else suddenly has the inexplicable happen: an armored car is hi-jacked and the two guards murdered. Sheriff Jim Weber gets the case in part because the men are from Big Lake and one is his brother-in-law. The adjoining jurisdiction and the feds soon join forces when the investigation centers on the possibility of the perps being in Big Lake. There are the usual characters you'd find in most small towns; the raspy ole lady, bubba and his family, the tough and crusty bar-maid. It's discovered the other guard was a major lady killer and running through his conquests finds a number of possible su... morespects. The plot heats up, the twists begin to do a 180, and things get real convoluted. Along the way, Jim manages to interest a lady or two himself. This book was received as a free download. The plot moves along but at times seems to resort to stereotype overload and felt the climax wrapped up way too quickly with a wholly unlikely culprit--meant as a surprise--but not really believable after the personal interaction throughout the book.
review 2: A great story that is as crooked a tale to follow as a mountain trail. You wouldn't want to go a-wandering in these woods with packing heat. Great adventure and told with the perspective of a fellow who has seen it all. Pick up this book on Kindle today. Then go read the second one, it won't disappoint you. Good cop story and he nails the drunks and idiots just right. Don't forget the typical phony politicians, there is one in here too, the Mayor of Big Lake. He has cousins across America. less

The guy version of a beach book. Not great literature but enjoyable.
