review 1: This books sounded quite charming and just like what I wanted after reading a series of darker novels. Unfortunately, the weak smiles it elicited can be counted on one hand. Humor based on bodily functions (you can guess what I mean) really ought to be confined to C-list movies, if at all. Further, I found both characters inordinately shallow and quite self-obsessed, which made it difficult to want to connect with them. I will say, Spalding's idea of telling the stories of dating from the man's and the woman's side is clever, yet in practice, I'm afraid, it just wasn't for me.
