review 1: To call this book a romance would do it great injustice. This is a beautifully written story about family and overcoming adversity in all forms. This is really a story about Wiley and his son, Noah. Their life together has not been easy, but they faced all the challenges with good humour and courage. Along the way, we are introduced to Jackson. A compassionate and adorably confused Yankee in the South. This story is set in the South and wow, what an eye opening reading experience this was!
review 2: Ok guys. Buckle up. This is going to be long.I started on this book because I loved the cover, and I usually love it when kids are thrown into the mix of LGBT books. But even that could not make me like the book.I loved Noah. Absolutely adored the cutie. He was the on
... morely thing that felt real about this book. Though I guess the "about the author" section of the book explained a lot about the setting of Wiley's life.I think that explains the strong opinions about where Christianity stands on homosexuality.. and the location of course.Well not meaning to go deep.. I just did not buy the MC's attractions for each other. How casually the 3 words were exchanged. And what was the deal with Wiley and Juan? I don't know what others think.. but for me that was an absolute dealbreaker. Wiley just felt too crass and not a very good person.. albeit being a good father. Jackson just felt.. unreal. And that's that. less
