review 1: I'm a fan of Nicole Edwards, so I was sad I didn't like this one much. The writing was actually per her usual, good. It was the story I didn't like. I have no problems with her menage setups, temporary or permanent, if involved know what is happening and with mutual respect. I feel Kylie, our heroine in this one, really got a bad deal with her chosen mates. Travis meets Kylie (they are 24 and 19 respectively), dates her for a year, marries her and dumps her after 3 weeks, simply states he is sorry and walks away for the next 10 years, no attempt at contact. He proceeds to get himself involved in kink clubs, menages, whatever, with seeming no interest in ever looking her up again. Gage is infatuated with Travis and has been for a long, long time. He is so angry and ... morefrustrated he uses Kylie as an instrument of revenge on Travis, seeking her out and dating her with the sole intent to use her to hurt Travis. That is how the three come together. This really is the romance of Travis and Gage, and how it should have been written. When they meet up again, Travis finally explains why he left, his bisexuality. He states plainly to her face that she just wasn't enough for him. Ouch! Later in the book, he states to Gage he wants her with or without Kylie. So Kylie is okay to dispense with but Gage is essential?! Double ouch! During the entire 10 years apart, they stay married (technicality). It doesn't give me much incentive to believe Travis holds much value in promises of commitment, leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth regarding his character that never really changed throughout the book. So, I wished for better for Kylie, even if it meant they cut her loose to find her own HEA finally instead of being the third who would do in their relationship but was never on equal footing with the other two. That was just the impression I was left with, and I was sad to see that. I didn't like this one, but will keep on with the series.
review 2: I thought I won't like it like I did the previous books because this is a three-way threesome. I still appreciated this, but it's quite heavy with the back and forth. There are a lot of developments and crossover from characters in The Club Destiny series (which I have yet to read). I skipped the sole m/m scene because I could only read one if there's a woman involved. I won't go into details but this is really an emotional roller coaster ride. A lot has happened here and it's always touching to know one is cared for. Sex scenes just burn the pages. less
