review 1: It was great reading a book based in my home country, I could actually picture the places and what they were like. This story was a really good read. The main characters are Zoe and Will. Zoe suffered in her past relationship and has closed herself off from people except for Dee. Will had a bad experience in his last relationship which has made him wary.Their relationship has it's ups and downs but it was wonderful to see them strengthening as time went.
review 2: There is something so interesting about rock stars. I think it is such a sexy, glamorous life but with a dark edge that appeals to me. I wish I could say that The Devil's Tattoo was successful at delivering all of those for me. It certainly gave me a taste of them but I could have used a heartier s
... moreerving. The Devil's Tattoo was like a genie lamp. The first third or so of the book was tarnished, I think it needed a good polish. Once the story received that much needed shining, it was tremendously better. In fact, it was almost like night and day.The story starts off with quite a bit of story set up. Some of which was intriguing. Especially the short little meetings between Zoe and Will. However, that part of the story moves quickly and jumps time and I had a hard time connecting. And a hard time buying into what some of the character traits were being pitched at. I never really saw Will as a womanizing ass, but everyone believed him to be, for example. But...maybe I am just a sucker for a hot rock star.Once time slows, the story takes on a new feel. The writing even seemed to take on a smoother hand. I loved how Taylor let the relationships marinate and develop from that point. It felt more real, less frenetic and just plain sweeter.I think Taylor was beginning to hit her stride with the story half way through. The characters became more fun and loveable and I would love to see more of them. Especially, Dee who is would be a person anyone would want as a best friend. The Devil's Tattoo is more a story of overcoming difficult pasts and learning to trust and love again. As well as being able to take the risks that come along with that. It is not your standard steamy rock star story filled with nothing but high drama, alcohol fueled angst and explicit sex scenes. You'll get more of a story here, I just think this little gem could still use a little more polish. *copy provided for honest review* less
