review 1: Having read blasphemy 4 years ago I've been looking out for a new book by this author and my only disappointment is that I read this book to quickly I only hope he can get more prolific and write his next book sooner than 4 years. Interestingly a couple of reviews indicated that the flaw in the book was it was like reading to novels concurrently which rush together at the end, to me this was the beauty of the book , it allowed him to explore the issues of homosexuality in society during ww1 and a returning hostage from Afghanistan.
review 2: When I first picked up this book I made pretty steady progress with it until I hit something that was pretty far out of my comfort zone. I stopped for a while, but when I picked it up again I sped through the rest in a day.... more I still don't know how I feel about it. The ending was quite lovely, and definitely satisfied the plot, but it was complicated and weird and I think I'll need more time to process it. less
