review 1: I have been a fan of contemporary romance since I was actually allowed read romance. Baby Stetson is a book that I am so glad that I was able to get my hands on.I was given the book by the author for an honest review. She knows that I am going to give it a 5 star review :)Baby Stetson is a nickname for Avery Callimer. One night she was left on the steps of a bed and breakfast as a baby in a Stetson hat. From that night on she was raised by loving adoptive parents. She works with them in the inn that she was left at but is also the lead in a band. She has never known anything but love and kindness from the town that she has grown up with.Lucas Bennett comes into town one day. He has many secrets in his past that could change everything. He is supposed to working fo... morer a woman that wants information on Avery. What Lucas doesn't count on is falling in love.Avery and Lucas come against many obstacles that can prevent them from having a relationship. For each obstacle that is put in their way, they find a way to get through them together.The best is that Nikki Lynn Barrett doesn't leave the reader hanging. Even though this book is part of an awesome series, she ties up the story. Not many authors do that and she does it with style. Nikki reminds me of some of my favorite authors that I couldn't wait to get my hands on the print books. This could be a stand alone book but book 2, The Melody in My Head is definitely must read that has more of Avery and Lucas.
review 2: In the spirit of full disclosure I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.Lots of passive writing and purple prose. In fact I had to fight the urge to skim in several places where the pacing felt unnecessarily bogged down with way too much detail. And most of the dialogue felt plain. I had expected to see snappier dialogue full of emotions. Tension drops too much in a couple places.On the bright side. The story is full of romance, mystery and many unexpected plot twists. The characters were intriguing and the plot believable. The interesting way the author ties the title into the story is refreshing. The story grabbed my attention from the first page.
