review 1: The 4th volume is definitely picking up. The way that Mina has to prove her honour is very degrading and made so much sense for the series I loved it. I also really like how you can tell there is so much more going on that is going to be revealed. Just, UGH. Nicely done. The fighting though? Wicked. The wolf/vampire thing is very interesting and I love that Akira being so young is still so bad ass. Even his dad is all "It's Akira. If he dies than he isn't worthy. But my son WON'T DIE" haha. Sweet.
review 2: I’m just going to sum these up as one. Mina Tepes, the vampire queen, has pretty much bailed out Japan’s ailing government in exchange for land to build the ‘bund’ a safe haven for vampires. The vampires aren’t supposed to be in Japan eating the po... morepulace in return. Mina looks like a young child and her protector is Akira Regendorf, a young werewolf. Akira has been raised up hard by his brutal alpha male father, who isn’t physically abusive but he is cold and demanding.Naturally neither humans nor some vampires are thrilled by this and it’s all Akira can do to keep Mina alive (so to speak). Mina faces many challenges. There are vampire factions out to destroy her plans even if they can’t’ really destroy her. She’s the last female vampire who is true blooded. She is needed to produce the next female vampire queen (without whom all the vampires will die out). Mina’s true form is a beautiful adult version of herself that she keeps hidden because she doesn’t want to be married off to any of the repulsive vampire nobles. It’s quickly apparently Mina is a lonely young woman who wants a quieter more normal life, preferably with Akira. Out of all the vampire related manga I’ve read this is easily the closest to the Western Stoker version of vampires. I didn’t expect to like this one based on some of the sexualized Loli art but it is more than the boob/panty shots (for some reason the vampires seem to like to fight naked), it is proving to be a well thought out story. I’m enjoying this. less
