review 1: As a huge fan of Pam's past writings, I was disappointed in this one. I realize its intent was snippets of life experiences, but I wanted MORE. I was ok with the structure, although it isn't my preference. But I wanted more content.. I wanted more of the raw. There were examples of this occasionally. But for the most part, it seemed to be a chronicle of random experiences. I'm sure not random to the author, but for me, the reader, it seemed that way.
review 2: I really plowed through this book. The main character's ups and downs, lessons learned, and the life she desired kept me reading. Unfortunately, when I finished it, it didn't linger with me. I have to admit, I find that is blurs over into the middle-aged and single women's self-help genre. I wanted mo
... morere fiction, more texture, more complexity. However, the stories are entertaining and the vignettes work really well for this kind of story-telling. I was entertained throughout and that is is a big accomplishment. Also, I didn't want a nice, bow-tied ending, but I did want more depth throughout the book so at the end, no matter what the end, I felt like I learned something about the world and myself. Since the character goes on that journey herself, I thought I was going along with her and then discovered at the end that I was trying to read too much into what was never there, but maybe that's the point, as the cover suggests. less
