review 1: This is a very special book. I got sucked into the first chapter, and I stayed up WAY too late reading it. I could tell you to read it because the author is real and funny and a talented writer--all are true. However, the reason I enjoyed it so much is because this woman gets me, the romance-novel obsessed, constantly reading, not ashamed to admit I truly enjoy rag-mags and reality television me. I still have favorite Harlequin novels I read in high school. Wish I could get my hands on a few I gave away. My favorite books are paperback romance novels, and I'm not afraid to admit it! Neither is the author. Her story captivated me up until the end when I smiled and just sat with that glowing feeling. And now I'm sad it's over. Wonderful read!!
review 2: A lovely
... moreaddition to my non-fiction reading. Plus the author went to Oberlin and her choices in boyfriends who are bad for her were framed by the same mailroom where I made some similarly bad choices. She did a very nice job of discussing her journey back from a truly awful horrible attack, but did it in such a way that I could manage to read about it. Perhaps because it was set in the context of her recovery and her very fun description of her job and life. less

Very enjoyable. Loved her story but could have done without the romantic novel running commentary.

Listened to this in my car. Kind of dumb, had to find out if she ever pulls herself together!?

4.5 for all the hopeless romantics.
