It was worst than Sarah, Plain and Tall. The storyline and illustrations were inconsistent throughout the book; plus the "friendship" of Larry and Dot isn't discussed until the last two pages of the book. The book has no substance and no place in a cla... moressroom setting or library. I was confused reading the book because I didn't know if I should read the captions or pictures first. If I was confused reading this children's book (and I am twenty-four years old), I know for a fact that the children are not going to understand what is going on. In fact, I think the only person that knows how to read this book is the author herself.
review 2: I'm still trying to figure out what exactly is going on in this picture book. Dot, who is really tiny, meets Larry who is really tall. They talk for a while, and the book ends. Much time is spent talking about how small Dot is and how big Larry is and how that is a miserable situation for both of them. The art by Chast is vaguely Beavis-and-Butthead-ish, and the book as a whole is mildly trippy. less
