review 1: Auslander was filled with action, but the build up of characters was a very important quality as well. I'm afraid that is where Paul Dowswell went weak. He didn't fully give Peter a full background besides that he was an orphan and his parents were killed by the Germans. I would've liked to of heard more about how he was actually part Jewish. And the ending of the story did seem rushed to me. They escaped Germany, then what? And it was also kind of blurry in the end, kind of like inception, hard to grab on to and understand.But now onto the positives. Dowswell did a fantastic job with the historical context. I never knew how terrible Germany was inside, or that the Germans weren't all bad. I loved how Peters family seemed so innocent with only the insecurity of pride with ... morethe Nazis. Also I liked how they kept the eldest so secretive and quiet until the end, it gave to a great plot twist. This book is good for anybody wanting to read about the other side of WWII, through the Germans' eyes
review 2: Wow, la historia que relata este libro es simplemente genial.La vida de peter, de polonia a suecia pasando por Alemania, lo que descubre, las figuras que conoce, todo es muy entretenido y educativo. un excelente trabajo, Paul.Lo unico que tengo para reprocharle a este libro, es que le falto. Paul fue muy al grano en todo, creo que pudo hacer mas con Erzbeth, era un personaje muy interesante, y esperaba conocer el destino de la familia de acogida, ademas de interiorizar un poco mas en Peter, es decir sabemos lo que sabia, lo que hacia y lo que sentia, pero no lo que pensaba de todo a su alrededor.Aun asi ello no desmerita las cinco estrellas. Espero leer mas libros asi. less
