review 1: I love to read historical fiction, especially about the Nazi era. I found this a refreshing view of the historical time period. I had only read books about this time period from the jews point of view until recently when I read The Book Thief as well as this book. The interesting part about this book and what made it different from The Book Thief was that it was about a German boy. It was about a mixed breed. It was very interesting to read and learn how the mixed breeds were treated. Overall, it was an easy read, but also a good one.
review 2: This book is aimed at the young adult market - but it is easily for all, a great book. Peter lives in Poland and his parents are killed. It is wartime and as he has the look of an ideal Aryan he is taken to Berlin and p... morelaced with a german family. However although Peter joins the Hilter Youth he soon comes to realise that he does does not hold with their pro-nazi ideals or with the nazi ways and so begins his stand against it. A very thought provoking book. less
