review 1: Can be a little dense at times. I believe that it makes clear connections between thinking and action, i.e., option for the poor: disease has an option for the poor because it flourishes in that which usually accompanies poor; poor diet, unclean water, lack of sanitation, etc. Theologically an option for the poor means that Christians (and other people of faith) are to work with the poor and for the poor changing the circumstances of their lives that create the opportunity for disease to run rampant.
review 2: This is a terrific little book. Some of the material in here I had read already - but the new material here is a perfect accompaniment to the two pieces that had been published previously. I love it - these two authors, activists, priest and physicia
... moren - who see the way in which their worlds intersect and feed one another. I wish that the work in health and poverty and housing, etc…went on with the type of conversation that these two folks have. Unfortunately not - but I do think that such conversations that they are having in these pages and with young people at Notre Dame and around the world - has the opportunity to really change things. Beautiful. I’m very glad I read this. less

I learned a lot, and you don't have to be religious or medical to get it.
