review 1: A TV serial in a book... Loads of characters, lots of chasing, some random violence and a few artistic locations. This is a low grade detective thriller that's a bit slow to come to the boil but when it does it zips along. As gritty writing goes it can't hold a candle to David Peace's Red Riding, with which it shares some similarities, mainly the misanthropic main character, but it's good enough as a holiday read.
