review 1: This was a quick and enjoyable read. Mozart was a phenomenal genius, and this short book -- short just like Mozart's life -- gives a marvelous sense of that genius. For those who don't know much about Mozart's life, and don't know whether or not he was a founding member of the Dave Clark Five, this is the book for you. If you know enough about Mozart to think that joke wasn't funny, this is also a book for you.
review 2: Paul Johnson writes a very succinct, interesting and fascinating biography of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He deftly weaves the story of Mozart from childhood to death into the greater narrative of European history. Doing so in such a brief book is remarkable. He refutes some common Mozart myths and you can tell that he loves his subject matter. In
... more that sense, it may be biased toward Mozart but he does not shy away from Mozart's faults as well as his triumphs. It was a delightful introduction to Mozart and I recommend it to anyone who, like me, did not know very much about this great composer. less

Read more like a CV than a biography, but I guess for Mozart they were one and the same.
