review 1: I was excited to read this one as it had a lot of stories by authors that I love. I thought it would give me a tidbit to tide me over until their new book comes out. Sadly as I started to read these I realized that I have read them before. So I went to the forward and sure enough, all of the stories have been published before. This is a collection of some of the best detective stories in UF in the 2000's. While I enjoyed these stories the first time around I feel like I got the shaft with this one, wish I knew ahead of time they weren't new.
review 2: It never occurred to me that there were enough short stories out there about detectives with a fantastic twist to make up an anthology. Many of my favorite authors are represented in this collection and they... more did not disappoint. Fans of existing series such as Harry Dresden and Jane Yellowrock, among others, can get a deeper insight into the characters through these shorter adventures. A consistently entertaining read. less
