review 1: I literally just finished this book and came to write a review. I talked about the writing style, and and everything else on the other two reviews, so let me tell you how I'm feeling.I'm very happy for Fani! I mean, she's gonna make her dreams come true, and on her shoes, I wouldn't think twice before accepting a scholarship. I think dreams are important, and you should chase them at nearly any cost, besides, true lovers always find each other, so... (okay, that was romanticezed, but I don't really know any other way to say it). But I'm a Shipper, so let me talk about Lani... they're so cute together, I mean, they were like that couple of friends that you're sharing a table with and you're like "oh my God, you're kissing so much" and "that's so cute! I believe in love again... more!" at the same time. I do think Leo's kinda like a friend of mine in pants, which means too jealous, but seriously, in Fani's shoes, I would've handled the situation in other way. I would've told him at first Christian was coming, and HEY! It's not my fault, I'm telling you just to you not to be jealous. And I would've invinted him to come with me to meet the guy, and then, perhaps there'd be a fight, but seriously, the scholarship news would be given and that whole mess would be averted. I don't know, they've been separated before, they could've made a "open dating" pact until they finished college. That's what I'd have done, maybe (unsure about open date thing). Yet, I'm in the same situation I was at the beginning of the first book. My family better call 911 if they don't end up together, and I'm sure I'm spending the whole Sunday reading tomorrow. (Seriously, their... hm, I don't have a word, but intimate could be... scene was so cute, and it showed exactly what I needed to know to find cute and be happy for them not raise my eyebrows and hide in the bathroom, fearing someone would catch me reading.) I'm seriously creating twin sisters named Lani and Winnie for some novel I'm still gonna write.
review 2: I love these books. I hate these books. When the paixão is on hold, I love the interactions between the characters, the silly emails, etc. BUT what kind of warped, sick version of love is Pimenta selling to adolescent girls? I get that there needs to be plot and drama but why must it always be about love or, worse, jealousy? She's got so much going with Fani's friends, her future, etc. It's reprehensible to present jealousy--even amongst teenagers--as this expected/accepted. (Yes, perhaps this is a cultural difference but still...) I'm soooo bored of Leo freaking out and Fani being the dutiful girlfriend to soothe his fragile male ego. Christian is pushy enough to be bordering on stalker. Why won't Fani just tell him off once and for all? Why would she let this creepazoid back in her life? Oh yeah... because of Leo's male ego. All of the nonsense in this book would be undone by teenagers TALKING to one another openly but then where would all the delicious drama be? (Read: sarcasm)Oh and we won't even get into the crap English that Pimenta could have asked any English speaker to check before going to print or the moronic storyline of getting a full scholarship to a US uni by having your ex-boyfriend show someone your film review blogs... Meh. BUT of course I'll read the next book--and probably end up throwing it across the room. less
