review 1: it took me a while to read through this book, not because it was boring or difficult to read but knowing how tragically it ends stopped me from finishing it. Paulina Simmons is a fantastic author. I grew to hate Harry, for the way he treated Gina, his blantent disregard for the love she had for him, his inability to take responsibility for his actions, for not taking care of his family. I could go on and on. I truly felt Gina's pain. I would recommend reading Gina's story before reading Alexander and Tatiana's story.
review 2: My goodness this book was so heartbreaking and left me with a heavy heart. Especially knowing what happens in The Bronze Horseman and the rest of the series. I was beyond frustrated with Harry almost the entire book. He made me so angry a... morend I felt so bad for Gina but at times I found myself angry at her as well for putting up with Harry. That said, I still love this series and thought this book was well worth the read and Paulina Simons is just an outstanding author. She is so extremely intelligent and I learned a lot from her knowledge of communism through this book. A very sad but great read. less
