review 1: I absolutely loved every character in this book. Ben, the professor, Frank, Marvin, are so interesting and full of life even though they are at a retirement center. I want friends like this when I'm that age. Ben realizes that we all need someone. He tries to hide his fears, past, love, but realizes he needs more. He needs someone to care for and someone to care for and understand him. Each character was developed so well I felt like they were people I know. I'd love to see this made into a movie. I'd laugh, cry and come away with some lessons about life. Thanks for letting me win this book as a Goodreads first reads.
review 2: An interesting cast of characters, some kept me laughing, some grimacing, but they made me feel.Ben lost his way, so to speak, when
... more his brother died under his hand on the operating table and left the medical world behind to become a janitor in a retirement community. OCD and a fear he's on the verge of losing it (if he hasn't already) keeps him from going after what he wants in life until with the help of some of the residents he begins to see that there is in fact more to life for him.The shenanigans of some of the retirees keeps you entertained and wondering what they will be up to next, although the whole lottery ticket scene was both predictable (as in I saw it coming almost before I realized the need for them to be rescued) and not exactly believable due to the compulsive nature of someone with that severe of OCD.I enjoyed the book, I love happily ever after, but I thought the ending was a little much. less

This was an accidental find. It was actually quite good. Very surprising. Some accidents are good.
