review 1: If you think you know the whole story because you watched ZERO DARK THIRTY, you are so wrong. Initially, I thought that this book would just be a huge data dump of information on Al-Qaeda, 9/11, the CIA, the NSA, etc, etc. So I was a little skeptical whether I'd be able to get through it without quitting halfway. But Peter Bergen presents a staggering amount of information in such a way that you always feel like you want to know more. His research and knowledge of all the relevant present and past events is just awesome. He keeps the subject matter very engaging. For example, when the Abbottabad safe house was thought to have been where Bin Laden was hiding, he discusses all the options that the Obama Administration had and all the ramifications and implications of each on... moree. It really puts you in the seat of the decision makers and gives you their perspective. It's a fascinating read...
review 2: This book tells the inside story of the hunt for Osama bin Laden. Much of the material is available elsewhere, but the author includes a fair amount of personal information about bin Laden's last years, as well as giving more detail on the people who tracked him down. The book is readable and fast-paced, but the author's general weakness is his inability to put bin Laden in a larger context. Instead, he provides a mostly journalistic account. less

The book felt rushed and not as fleshed out as I would have liked.
