review 1: This book does a great deal to undermine the wide spread view that an atheist society would be hell on earth despite the fact that atheists don't believe in hell or perhaps because of that. The Author analyses two countries where belief in God and religion is close to single digits as described by the author they are very desirable societies that any religious person would be happy to claim except for the lack of religion of course.
review 2: Zuckerman puts together a very interesting evaluation of the evident "irreligiousity" of Scandinavian culture (Denmark and Sweden) in "Society Without God". He draws on studies done by sociologists and relies heavily upon the countless interviews he conducted while living in Denmark to support his argument, which i... mores that humans do not necessarily have an innate need for religion. This was a thought-provoking read. less
