review 1: I did not realize that this book was the second in a trilogy until I had finished reading it. I would have enjoyed it more if I had known how it all began. Still, it dealt with history, the lives of a British aristocratic family and their American cousins, following World War I, and lately I and have enjoyed reading several books dealing with this time of history. I think Rock writes well, and I will probably read the the other books in this trilogy at some time.
review 2: The Abington Pryory saga continues! The story picks up shortly after WWI, and finds each of our characters recovering form the war in different ways. Life has significantly changed, and the old world of parties, servants, and defined class roles are gone. As the younger generation begins
... more to change daily life, the older one starts to, reluctantly, adapt to this new way of thinking. The depth of despair and ruin of Germany is explored - and knowing the fate of the country comes as no surprise. Loved the story line and direction of the characters! Can't wait to see where the next generation of the Pryory goes! less
