review 1: I loved the illustrations in this book and the 'surprise' is clever. I was disappointed that we didn't get to meet the living members of the Diaz family. The idea that the living get to party with their dead loved ones was mentioned but not really explored at all. I would have felt better about it if the living boy turned out to be a distant cousin or something. As written, the story is more like a zombie holiday where the dead get to come back to life to play in the land of the living just for fun as opposed a story about them celebrating a rare chance to see their living families and friends.
