review 1: This was fun. I was a huge Little Women fan growing up, but had not re-read it since my kids were little. As an adult, I find the writing and moralizing outdated and simplistic, but I still am fond of the book. Wasn't sure what to expect from this rewrite, but I like fractured fairytales, so gave it a try. The new material blends well with the old-fashioned writing, making for a very believable alternate reality. Mr. March/Alcott makes a perfect werewolves rights campaigner. And I still cried when Beth died, although it was a very different death. Kind of makes me want to visit Orchard House (again), and look a little more closely!
review 2: Confession time: I have never finished the original Little Women novel. We had the abridged version and other things just
... more kept popping up. Little Women and Werewolves was a good substitute. It made me *want* to read the original, if for no other reason than to see what was in certain scenes, if not the werewolves. Although a few of the scenes bothered me--namely Beth's demise--it was a really good book and I enjoyed reading it. less
