review 1: Such a fun read! I fell in love with Annalise from the get go; She's such a vibrant character, that it was hard not to. From her cat that thinks it's a dog, to her multi colored apartment everything worked. I fell in love with Jake, first because he sounds gorgeous, but then because he had a depth of character that I found refreshing. This was a one-sitting read for me. Bailey's story grabbed me and didn't let go until the very end.
review 2: can never get tired of stories about teenage crush magnified a hundred million times when they meet again when they're all grown up. It's a fun thing chasing after this crush even if he never notices. And in this story it will take a while before Jake realizes how Annalise can be the love of his life. I find it quite an e
... moremotional roadtrip how much both will have to go through before they make it to the finish line happy. Rachel Bailey put a fun and affectionate spin to this story. One of the instances that made me laugh is Annalise's cat Rover who thinks she is a dog, who eats "dogfood" and "barks". There were also some things that were communing to any ordinary person like how sensitive both Annalise and Jake were eventhough they seem to be the complete opposite on the surface .Annalise loved her car so much no matter how beaten up it may be while Jake loved his mom and sister so much he visits them often. These are simple things about them that touched my heart like no other book can. I don't mind the playful seduction either, I bet if these two were real persons they'll be hot as hell.Rachel wrote it in an uncomplicated manner that made it sophisticated all the same. The other characters like Eden and Kelly (Jake's mom and sister), Adam (Kelly's husband) for me also had an impact in the story as the people they both. Other minor characters like her parents, his former coach/menthor/sort of second dad also jived into the mix giving The Summer of Jake an all in one package of a book. less
