review 1: I think Jeremy was a bit on the creepy side, but can totally understand his reasons for revenge on this strange carnival. It was nice seeing Michael and Eve having a time alone with adventures, even if on the dangerous side, with vampires of course. It's different for me reading about Morganville and not seeing Claire, because these two are totally together in my mind, but this little novella was a nice time.
review 2: "Dark Rides" is a Morganville Vampire short story told from Eve's perspective. A traveling carnival has been using a real vampire to suck the life out of customers and pretending it is a hoax. Amelie is not happy about this and has sent Michael Glass to capture or kill the vamp responsible. On this mission, Michael takes his new wife, Eve with him
... more.As they wander through the amusement rides, Michael breaks open a locked door that contains a teenage vamp known as Jeremy. He is in a silver cage and looks dirty, malnourished and wild. He is definitely interested in having Eve as his 'Happy Meal,' but she is not going to let that happen. What follows is an interesting tale that will introduce a character that I am sure will show up in future editions of this series. Dark Rides is a fast read and is free on Rachel Caine's new website.
