review 1: It has been a delight to repeat the phrase, Neetsa Pizza, to my friends and co-workers who ask me about the book. This is a quirky book with interesting characters but I had a hard time with the plot. I felt like was reading forever without any inkling of where the book was going. We have Leonard who works as customer service support for Neetsa Pizza, his nephew Felix has his own special powers, Felix's mother Carol who says she's going to her book club but is really partaking in riots and halfway through the book we meet Sally, a librarian and Leonard's true love. Isaac is a voice that tries to convey important things to Leonard. There is time travel and people being frozen in the streets and other fun things that occur but ultimately, the book fell ... moreflat.
review 2: I spent much of the first half of this book waiting for the creepy/scary Big Brother shoe to drop, and/or for the conspiracy behind this fast food company-dominated world to be exposed, but it never happens: this book is not that book. Instead, it's a weird, amusing little jaunt into Jewish mysticism, Marco Polo, and time travel that I think I probably need to read two or three more times to fully grasp. less
