review 1: So, let me explain how this book lost two stars for me...1. The beginning sucked. No really...the first 20% of the book was choppy and just flat out boring to read. I found myself wondering if the author was forced to write this book or something...2. The story progresses at lightening speed once the author decides to start writing a story she can enjoy writing...but it goes way too fast for me. This book just felt like it was rushed into being published before it was finished. However, it was a good book. Not a great book, but a good book...The one "naughty" scene in the book was really watered down and not too interesting. The author may have done better taking it out and marketing it as Christian romance...

... mored I'd really give it 3.5 stars, but GR doesn't allow half stars.Madison leaves her home in Atlanta and heads back to her childhood home of Magnolia Cove after catching her fiance in bed with another woman. Now Maddie must face the triggers of her past - former bullies and animosity from her sister. It's a romance novella, so the writing is choppy and very fast-paced. I like my romances with more buildup. It also leaves gaps in character development. With the book itself, the layout/font type makes it look a bit squished, though the spaces between paragraphs helps the eyes a lot.Madison's behavior is very childish in that she harbors hatred for a guy named Wyatt who had bullied her in high school. She also has anger for her ex-friend Brooks, because he was the catalyst for a lot of the bullying. She's 28 and can't let go of the past when Wyatt tries to explain he was a dumb teenage boy trying to get a hot girl, and that he doesn't remember anything. I just become irritated when others act that way.HOWEVER, what she says to Wyatt on page 109 makes a lot of sense:"But you have to understand that a couple of days of being nice to me does not change the way I feel about several years of high school torment from you and you cronies."Brooks puts a lot in perspective for Maddie, making him my favorite character. It also seems like too many parents are sick with a disease or have died. less

I enjoyed this book. It's a love lost/love found book and it's around Christmas. Give it a whirl.

A very predictable short story. Good enough to finish but wouldn't brag about reading it.
