review 1: I'm glad that I stumbled on this author last year with her last Christmas story. I don't know what it is about the holiday season but I love a romance for the holidays. Not only is it a holiday story but the beginning of a new series. Last of the Caine's it is finally Aidan's story. He bought a ranch in Haven Point, Idaho in order to have a safe place to ride horses and enjoy some down time. Depending on how you look at it but luck was on his side when he sideswiped a woman when his car wouldn't stop on black ice. Eliza Hayward's luck wasn't so good. the hotel she was going to managed burned down and then she got hit by a car all in the same day. Now she is staying with Aidan due to the snow storm and she has no idea how she is going to make ends meet with no job.Fo... morertunately Aidan comes to the rescue with a job.Maddie was adorable and the whole Caine family coming to town made it a job Eliza could handle. the romance was slow and subtle but an attraction that neither of them could deny. Just kissing but enough to know that there was going to be something that they could share together. Met some other characters in Haven Point and I'm sure they will be more to come!
review 2: First, I want to talk about the cover. I think I wanted to read this book mainly because I love this cover. I want to go to that place, with the mountains, snow, horses, gigantic Christmas tree that wasn't mentioned in the story but would be cool anyway. I can just imagine drinking hot chocolate on a peaceful, quiet winter night, looking out at the still landscape. Yup, I am a sucker for some atmosphere!Moving on to the actual story, I really liked it! My only complaint is how the two main characters, Eliza and Aidan, met. I found it a little unbelievable on her side of things. Regardless, I managed to forget about it, and ended up really enjoying the story. I felt like it had deeper nuances than just two people meeting and falling in love. They both had some back story that was pretty serious stuff, and I felt like the author didn't just throw it in, then wrap it all up super quickly - instead, it all made sense together, even if it there was a lot going on under the surface.I of course loved the whole Christmas aspect of this story, the snow, the setting, the wintry events. This is the first is a new series by the author, who writes the Hope's Crossing series as well. I can't wait to read the rest of this series, to see where it is headed and what happens to the town of Haven Point! less
