review 1: WHAT MY STARS MEAN:5 Stars--the book had a profound impact on me. It touched me on some special level and lingered with me long after I'd finished reading it. 4 Stars--I loved this book. If I don't own it, I will buy it so I can read it again and again.3 Stars--I enjoyed the book but may have had an issue or two with it.2 Stars--I had more than a few issues with it.1 Stars--I hated it.WHAT IT'S ABOUT:To catch a serial killer, Rose must go undercover as a stripper on Christmas Eve.***This is a short story. ***MY TAKE:This short story obviously comes after a first book. I found Rose's character engaging and intriguing. This short story made me want to read the first book to fill in what a short story couldn't.This is another book I'd like to have the ability to give a half s... moretar to, making it a 3 1/2. Even with my issues, it was still an entertaining read.****spoiler alert****I had a couple of issues. One was with the stupidity of the killer in being sucked into the ploy. The other issue was how quickly the romance got hot. I know this is a short story and the two had a history, but people change after that many years. Perhaps I'm naive in how professional adults act in a working situation. If so, my bad. But I do like people to know that they care about each other and not just that they're responding physical attraction alone.
review 2: This story has a fab start: the scene is set with a murder and the body being dumped in an ally way. It has a moody, 80s detective show feel to it that is quite kitch, and I loved it. Rose is leggy, pretty and young and the other detectives don’t take her seriously. She’s had a tough childhood with her parents being murdered, and then there’s her special ‘gift’. There’s a serial killer on the loose and when the FBI get involved Rose is told she’s got to go under cover as a stripper to bait the killer! This story is such a teaser, jam-packed full of action, happening mostly over the course of Christmas Eve, and has left me wanting more – it’s simply a little bit of excitement to get your teeth into over the festive period. Workman’s new series has started with a corker of a story and I look forward to reading more from this author.Review by Francesca Verbeeten on behalf of BestChickLit.com less
